Every election I observe that, whatever bollocks people spout about decency & the NHS etc, when it comes the ballot box it seems a large number of us are motivated principally by self-interest and mild racism.
I find it odder that people are surprised every time. It’s like nobody reads any of the biggest newspapers, or looks at the internet, or meets any… you know… people. Spiteful, selfish, route one views are pretty boilerplate, and mainstream but are depicted as somehow aberrant in politics.
'Mild'?
After a lifetime of dealing with racism, and much of it with people reassuring me things were improving, I've always known that the only thing that changed was racists were too embarrassed to speak out. Brexit and Farage changed that.
