A conscious decision is being made to avoid mentioning climate. It is done routinely in rarity round ups, articles, tweets and, as you say, is presumably a decision taken on financial grounds.
I think the answer is simple. As organisations they’re conflicted because they rely on advertising and sponsorship revenue from high-carbon companies. Despite paying lip service to #lowcarbonbirding they actively promote and individually engage in high-carbon birding. 2/3
