Sly and Robbie thankfully helped Grace Jones move away from the disco albums of the 70’s. The 1980 Warm Leatherette sounded new wave with a bit of reggae. Timeless music.

J Giles Band. Freeze Frame a great rock album with new wave tones. After 10 albums this one was a major hit in 1982 thx to MTV friendly songs Freeze Frame and Centerfold.

1988 Sidewalking tour made it to Aotearoa NZ. Sammy’s Night Club in Ōtepoti Dunedin was the venue. Support band Straitjacket Fits ripped it up that night too. I’d just turned 18 and managed to wriggle my way into the licensed venue. My first international band. 🤩

85’s Listen Like Thieves was another step up for Inxs. Bigger drums, more guitars, consistent song writing. Lead single What You Need set the tone and broke the US market open. Really enjoyable album.
