It's more like given the choice between a fascist and someone who acts like a fascist , people will vote for the real fascist all the time. Labour is picking up a little, but Farage is picking up most of the Cons votes so they're splitting them and losing seats.

They’re just blowing smoke. Every state has a statue with exactly how many days after the convention, or before Election Day, a major political party has to certify the nominee for the ballot.

I think the ones like Garin did, or Messina did for Obama--where they drill down to specific areas or groups they feel are the deciders--work better. You're right that there's so many assumptions built in to polling, so why not make one more, & not bother asking people in CA or NY what they think.

I think lots of swing voters hear "court expansion" and think Biden's planning to pass far left stuff. Basically, like Trump but mirror. Biden's greatest asset is his commitment to democracy. "I'm running for President, not king. If you want a king, vote for the convicted felon."
