I often think about how memories are formed and that my son and niece have seen literally thousands of photos and hundreds of videos of themselves (ages 2.3 and 4.8).

Was talking with a friend who mentioned she has 55,000 digital photos stored … I asked about the intention or hope behind storing that many photos and she became faintly defensive, as if not having them were unthinkable. But I’m genuinely curious: Who can meaningfully engage with 55K photos … ever?
