That's a really lovely way to look at it. I think I used to take it down to an even smaller scale than that. I couldn't change the bigger picture, but every piece of rubbish I picked off the beach was not going to choke a sea creature. Sea creature 1 : plastics 0, every time.

thank you so much for doing (and sharing) this, Harold. I'm from the Gulf Coast of Texas, and I've found the same sort of consolation in cleaning the beaches; it's not flashy, but it is something I can do.
