About 20 years ago I won tickets to an organ concert in a posh concert hall. As I was getting into my seat, and elderly lady in an evening gown was getting into hers. I saw the number tattooed on her arm and it hit me like a sack of concrete. I don't remember the concert but I'll never forget her.

that seminar project was the best thing i’ve ever done and it was punishing. like mentally punishing. and my professor was saul friedlander, like the world’s most famous holocaust scholar and also a holocaust survivor. made me a better man. but it was punishing.
