Came here to say this. If "corporations are people too", but since you can't try corporations for murder/manslaughter, or through corporations in jail, then CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE, and we should rethink, like, 100 years of law based on that idea.

Property tax bills can go down based on reassessment. The cause of this is 1970s Proposition 13 (brought to you by the conservative Howard Jarvis taxpayers assoc) followed by anti growth housing policies (largely eco/liberal) that prevented sufficient housing from being built.

Rationality is in the eye of the beholder. Should someone of modest means be taxed out of their own home simply because they have lived somewhere a long time, the value of their home has skyrocketed due to housing policies over which they have no control that haven’t allowed for appropriate growth?
