lmty trying to find any specfic market that is open to a novelette over 10k is ...incredibly disheartening.
Oh well, guess I'll be saving this one for an eventual collection, but I'm allowed to feel a little sad.

Partner came back from looking after his mum with a litre bottle of olive oil! A litre! Feeling bougie as hell :)

Rice cooker? Honestly astounding. I make a lot of one pot meals in them.

Terrence the polyp has been yeeted! It was...not a fun experience but it was quick and kind. And if I feel up to it I'm having takeaway for dinner later :)

Yeah, didn't bother to see it because of the casting. I was really excited before they announced it.

Absolute blessings on my own constituency where my Labour candidate held out, Reform only got 1k votes, and the Green candidate came in second place (!) with 20% (!) of the vote - largely nicked off incumbent Labour. Tories 4th place. Bloody lovely place to live.

It was! It's a tiny little village-type event but the volunteers are great and everyone is so excited to get you to try different drinks and recommend things. It all happens in a small local church and grounds, very cute :)

I know what you mean! Also, decisions are finite. Enjoy the estate car whilst you have it :)

Too wiped out to socialise, so the beer festival that I have been looking forward to for months was a quiet time of just me and husband. It was still great. Tried some interesting beers and ciders and ate bao buns.
Pro beer festival move - take your own camp chair.

I have a small panel van...my packing gets rather extreme as a result! I mean, I'd hate to be without my slow cooker....my pillow....the rice cooker....a decent set of knives... 🤣

They survive! Let's see if they can live through both the awful dry summers and the relentlessly wet autumn-spring.

Just a few more days to go before the bloody election is over. Coincidentally voting is the same day as the opening of my favourite little beer festival, which is perfect timing for a continuation of our tradition of voting and then getting a beer to celebrate :)

It really works (same if you need to put eye drops in your own eyes, coincidentally) - you get a second or two extra grace which I find is just enough to empty the whole capsule. I don't have to hold my two, I just scratch their heads with one hand and squeeze out the dose as fast as possible.

Being able to spontaneously upgrade to the dining carriage and get dinner on the train home from London. Such a lovely thing.

Train travel just seems to get sadder. Looked at the Avanti 'cafe-bar' on this train and it's a miserable little desk with four sandwiches and half a dozen plastic wrapped snacks. There are better coffee machines in my local Tescos. It's like they don't *want* to be successful.

Mine are : WHAT JUST HAPPENED I DON'T UNDERSTAND FLEEEEEEE.
(I warm the capsule to body temperature, and they don't notice anything has happened until it starts to evaporate from their skin).

Saw a bunch of really good looking "Green/Lib/Labour voter but voting X to get rid of the Tories" posters yesterday. Hunted them down online but you can't download them without giving the organisation your personal details and agreeing to receive pestering. Fucks sake.

I once went to a lecture at a Royal Society (wooden panelling, no other women, middle of the afternoon on a week day) and after the lecture finished we exited to the (softly carpeted) room where drinks were served. It was all sherry. Not even a glass of water, just a choice of different sherries.

Have crashed straight into adult-child middle-aged-ness by going through my mother-in-law's cupboards and stealthily throwing out 4yr out of date food, stealth cleaning the fridge, and worrying that she doesn't have a CO detector on her fireplace.

Today was perhaps not the best day to try and plant up the tree pit outside my home, the ground was absolutely rock solid and needed a couple of buckets of water before I could scrape a hole for each of my new drought resistant grasses.

I don't know much about writing but that sounds like a really good way of making excellent characters.
(One of my favourite tricks is to start a fantasy series at book 2, so I get lots of complex interesting characters without the obvious exposition)

Rescued a bad morning and turned it into a good afternoon, and a productive evening where I felt like I was doing a good enough job, and then I even cooked dinner, took out the bins and ran the fire alarm test. Surprised myself.

My 73 year old mom has a sight-hound with a high prey drive, that pulls her over at least once every six months. She loves that dog, but I just don't know what to say anymore. I firmly believe people have the right to make stupid choices, but I worry she's going to break something bad.
