I am happy to say that my 3 most recent roles have given me FAR less opportunity to call out bad behavior, and that I have much more effective tools at my disposal now if have to. but it ain’t nohow just the arts. It’s anywhere bad people* have - or think they have - power without accountability

Kelly also edited an anthology called “Trampoline” with several of these folks and more, and “The Best of Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet,” colllects stories from the long-running zine she and Gavin Grant publish, has some of these folks, and, again, even more. Both highly highly recommended!

Not just the arts: In my first real job, before I knew better, there was a mediocre middle aged programmer, and you learned to warn women not to ride alone in the elevator with "J." The harassment policy there was shit, it would have been he said/she said, so it just carried on.

Your whole voice, too be clear. I think an underlying fallacy of that pretend-to-be-apolitical to maximize profit angle is that it assumes people who want to NOT support apolitcal (cough fash cough) artists don't exist/don't buy books. but, y'know, I exist, I buy books & i'm not the only one.

I think that's such bad advice. I think it's rooted in the idea that the author persona should not alienate the potential market (cough fash $$$ cough). I followed you originally because other authors I like were interacting with your account and THEN I bought your books because I valued your voice.
