if they had this in the US, for example, people could vote for a third party candidate without worrying that it basically meant voting for Trump (or Biden, depending on the state) There are even better systems, but this would have meant no one ever had to vote for the lesser of two evils again.

This would mean that if you preferred the greens to labour, but hated the tories, you could vote green 1, labour 2. This means that if the green didn't get the seat, your vote would go to labour. If the green you voted for got a seat, your vote would stay with them and not transfer to anyone else.

There was a referendum in the UK to reform the voting system. People had to vote on whether or not to bring in alternative vote.

The conservatives misrepresented the new system completely because they knew it was unlikely they'd never be elected again if it got in.

they were told that alternative vote was undemocratic, which it isn't, unfair, which is subjective. They were told it meant "some people get more than one vote while other people only have one" , which is completely untrue.

multiparty isn't the problem, it works well in countries with different voting systems. It's the fact that people were tricked into voting against their own interests when they voted against reforming the system

the idea that his people could call anti-genocide protestors "disgusting" while he keeps funding the genocide and that somehow democrats saying for ages "could we please have a different candidate?" could be what costs them the election, rather than his words and actions.. it doesn't seem realistic

I've been hearing dems say this for the past 5 years. It's really interesting to me that it's only popping up on people's feeds now. I remember so many people said they would vote for him just to get Trump out but only wanted him for one term

I found birds singing helped my cat, first she was looking for the birds, then she seemed to figure "if the birds aren't scared then everything's probably fine" plus I comforted her a lot, which helped, unlike previous cat who didn't have enough faith in my intelligence to be comforted by my calm

To apply someone else's very real suffering to yourself and then make poetry out of it is obscene. If fiction is where the truth is it's because you're supposed to add something, not appropriate, scavenge and cannibalize other people's trauma.

This is really happening to people and has really happened to people. Sitting in an arm chair and thinking "What if it happened here, where people are mostly white and English speaking though" is gross, shallow and voyeuristic and this adds nothing to it, nothing. The poetry of it is obscene.

i never got the complaints about high rise living, because I lived in low buildings and suburbs where you couldn't see the sky anyway and it was the same now I'm living in an estate where the houses are angled so everyone can see some sky out at least some windows. can't believe the difference
