I think they want to keep believing that anything coming out of the Trump camp is hyperbole, because to realize that's not hyperbole is the have to come to terms with just how dangerous the Trump camp is. Problem is that it is not, in fact, hyperbole and the Trump camp is, in fact, very dangerous.
