Friends, remember, always ask your editors that you'd specifically like to work with me as your letterer. Request when you are starting on a project. By the time I'd be able to ask, the job may already be assigned to someone else. Ask early, and ask for the best (me 😉).

Don’t do work for free for anyone. The fact that professionals need to be told this still is insane. If you’re not getting paid for it, do not do it. It may sound “greedy”, but you will be used and abused by clients if you do that.

No letterer should be charging less than $30/page these days. Do not take less to “get the gig”. We will keep getting shit rates that way.

What I will say about those commission rates: this is why my logos start in the thousands. The time they take away from my books and my life, and my skill level for them, that’s how much that time is worth to me.
