I definitely agree. At the same time, I know exactly what it's like to be immersed in that world, and how difficult it is to start asking the difficult questions. People were kind to me on my journey out of conservative evangelicalism. How can I not extend the same grace?

I don’t even think it necessary to give up conservative theology. There are great models for those who read the Bible literally and are called to progressive action, from Sojourners to Jimmy Carter to William Barber.
