Could any bird knowers inform me whether birds start going absolutely HAM on bird seed in the spring as a general rule or if my backyard birds are just particularly frisky this week? Primarily finches, chickadees and Juncoes. The Juncoes are definitely up to some courting atm which is very cute.

If I could do anything differently I would have gotten a larger battery, but I’m still holding out hope for bidirectional charging since the car has way more storage than I’d be able to get otherwise. The one gets you through the night in an outage, but if it’s cloudy the next day tough luck.

So we have solar and a 10 kWh battery. Our system is SolarEdge (but I think this will be true for any), it has an app that monitors generation, storage, and usage. So I can pop open the app and see “ok, house is using 1.5 KW, battery is charged, and I’m sending 5 KW back to the grid” then I plug in.

I just charge my car when I’m generating more than I’m using, since PG&E only compensates you on the generation but when you buy it back from them they tack on a big transmission charge, so it feels like you’re getting a good deal selling it back to the grid, but it’s still kind of a rip off.
