As an ally and a relative I will say the most cringe behavior is to ask the staff to help you find ingredients for a specific recipe you read in, say, the NYTimes

I say this as a white guy who got offered "if we are closed we are still open for you" nod from the 1st and longest running Asian grocery in my city because I shop there for sustenance (we have family/community connections that I'm not sure they even know but they know my kids)
