On one side, that is laughable. On the other, I still remember Trad artists harassing digital artists until they'd commit suicide, so it's not as far fetched as I'd prefer.

Holy crap. Just got an email from the US Dept of Ed forgiving and discharging my loans from the Art institute that screwed me over so badly decades ago. The huge weight finally coming off of my shoulders. I'm shocked but also relieved.

When I started in Digital Art, it was still a common belief among Traditional Artists that all we did was push an 'Art" button and the computer did all the work. We, supposedly, also required 'very few skills".

My understanding of it, and I may be wrong, is that this post you just made, could be considered illegal if it inspired someone else to post hate, due to the wording of the law in question. Goal, understandable.... execution.... questionable.

No, what the court Ruled was that the AI cannot be the *exclusive* author of a copyrighted work. Someone who uses AI in a work that is at least partially human authored may still be copyrighted, though what degree of human input is required is still unclear.

AI material may not, in fact, be uncopyrightable. China, for example, extends Copyright to AI generated Material. Commonwealth Countries do have such a thing as "Copyright without Author" which may also apply, since in that case the person who Generated the image is considered the Copyright owner.

Point of fact, they "literally' have not, since, at best, AI training is copyright infringement, not theft. Secondly, it still takes an artist to get any real quality out of an AI. It takes me, for example, about half as much time if I include AI in a piece, compared to digitally from scratch.
