My "Glamour Shot" moment with the award I just received, The WTAMU Academic Affairs Staff Excellence Award. I feel incredibly honored to receive this as a staff member at WT & as an academic librarian. When I'm old and gray, reflecting on my career, this will definitely be one of the highlights. 📚

I just read this article by @drtlovesbooks.bsky.social and think it's so powerful. Steve eloquently put into words many of the things I think. You DO NOT have to be a school librarian to find value in this article. The concepts here are applicable to ALL types of librarians. Thanks, Steve! 📚

I'm going to #txla24 too! Maybe we'll run into each other. Having a similar prob. My ILL book came in & is due back on the 21st. Won't be back to work until the 22nd. Even if I take it on my trip, I can't return it in time. Do I read like a fiend to finish before I leave or not read it at all? 📚

Two weeks from today, one of two presentations I'm part of, will take place at the Texas Library Association annual conference. I have always believed that librarians have to "Toot Their Own Horns" bc no one will do it for us. At the same time, in general, we are EXTREMELY uncomfortable about it. We've got to get past that. Go forth and toot your horn, librarians! Tell the world the wonderful things you are doing.📚

I enjoy this as well and have done it frequently at our state library conferences in the past. I truly wish the Texas Library Association would create a Bluesky account so I could tag them in my posts at the upcoming conference in April.
