Academic librarian - Associate Director/Head of Outreach and Instruction, Cornette Library WTAMU. Former school librarian and K12 educator. Texas Library Association CULD Chair-Elect.
Is there anyone here going to the Texas Library Association Officer Governance Training this week in Austin? Just curious if I'll see any of my Bluesky friends. 📚

For anyone out there who may be a school librarian or know of one who wants to make the jump to higher education, I'll be participating in a webinar on this topic, July 30th, along with three other former K12 librarians who made the switch. Please share broadly. 😊 📚

To my fellow educators, many of you will find this podcast episode from @tihe.bsky.social interesting. You do not have to be in higher education to find this episode interesting and/or the ideas discussed within applicable. 📚

As a former school librarian, this quote from the YA book Starfish, by Lisa Fipps, really touched my heart. If you haven't read this book, I strongly recommend reading it ASAP. 📚

Academic librarians, if you aren't already familiar with LIS Pedagogy Chat, you will want to check it out. Even though the May chat has already happened, you can search the archives and sign up for future chats when they are posted.

This sounds like a fun idea especially if you have several new employees. It seems like it would be easily adaptable to fit the uniqueness of your employees and your work culture. 📚

My "Glamour Shot" moment with the award I just received, The WTAMU Academic Affairs Staff Excellence Award. I feel incredibly honored to receive this as a staff member at WT & as an academic librarian. When I'm old and gray, reflecting on my career, this will definitely be one of the highlights. 📚

I just read this article by @drtlovesbooks.bsky.social and think it's so powerful. Steve eloquently put into words many of the things I think. You DO NOT have to be a school librarian to find value in this article. The concepts here are applicable to ALL types of librarians. Thanks, Steve! 📚

I'm going to #txla24 too! Maybe we'll run into each other. Having a similar prob. My ILL book came in & is due back on the 21st. Won't be back to work until the 22nd. Even if I take it on my trip, I can't return it in time. Do I read like a fiend to finish before I leave or not read it at all? 📚

I have been on an amazing journey with these librarians and in two weeks we will take the next step when we present at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference. I'm very excited to see what new opportunities arise and where we go from here. #txla24 📚

Two weeks from today, one of two presentations I'm part of, will take place at the Texas Library Association annual conference. I'm incredibly excited to be part of both presentations because they are so different. I hope many of my Tx academic library friends are able to attend this one. #txla24 📚

I have always believed that librarians have to "Toot Their Own Horns" bc no one will do it for us. At the same time, in general, we are EXTREMELY uncomfortable about it. We've got to get past that. Go forth and toot your horn, librarians! Tell the world the wonderful things you are doing.📚

The hashtag for the upcoming Texas Library Conference occurring April 16-19 in San Antonio is #txla24. I hope to see lots of live posting here during the conference from my fellow Texas librarians! BTW, R there any Texas librarians on Bluesky? Can you give a shout out and let me know you are here?

I enjoy this as well and have done it frequently at our state library conferences in the past. I truly wish the Texas Library Association would create a Bluesky account so I could tag them in my posts at the upcoming conference in April.

Rereading the Framework today in #LibraryLand for an upcoming presentation. I've attended one all day wkshp, one two day wkshp & have read it multiple times. It's only within the last few years I've really began to feel like I truly grasp & can apply the content. What's your experience with it? 📚

No. While I often find it hard to explain what I do, it's super important that Ss know that librarianship can be a career path beyond the K12 years. For whatever reason, it didn't dawn on me that being an academic librarian was an actual career path until I was way into my career as a K12 teacher.

Texas library friends who are attending TLA in April, you do not want to miss this session about how four school librarians, one academic librarian and Education Department faculty collaborated to help preservice teachers learn about how to collaborate with their school librarian.
