Interesting that they are so upset on eating at home in that quote that they call it "eating shit". Don't most people eat most of their meals at home? Don't homes have kitchens and stoves for that purpose? How foreign it is that they think it is bad/foul to eat at home.

I’d have to read the whole thing to be sure, but from this screenshot, I don’t think they’re referring to meals, but instead the slang phrase “eat shit” as in “to accept something deeply unpleasant with no way to avoid it”. Sometimes folks mean it as slang for falling & slamming your face or head.

this seems like a dialect difference between Australian and US English. Here it means "something unremarkable or unmemorable." You can substitute the word "whatever" - "eating whatever at home." Another example: "What did you do last night?" "Just sat around and watched some shit on Netflix."

I don’t know about you, but I only eat at home to show that I am in distress. I fly the flag upside down every time I use my own stove.

When I was growing up in the 70s-80s, we only ate meals out for special occasions - birthdays, graduating, reunions with distant relations. In college my roommate's mother didn't cook. They literally ate at a restaurant for every meal. It was the weirdest thing I ever heard.
