We were expanding our village library. An opponent told me he never uses it. Years later he told me how much he enjoys story time with his toddler. He never could imagine the library’s usefulness for all of the other patrons until he did.

*sigh* Pity things can only have value for people if it's personal value, right? These are the same people who don't want their property tax to go to public education, because *they* don't have kids in school! (Folks, it's a public good to have an educated society, trust me on this 🙄)
