Yes, NYC did away with plastic bags too, but it was right when COVID it so it wasn't fully implemented for a while But now, they are gone from grocery stores, but Trader Joe's (who got rid of plastic BEFORE the ban) still has paper bags They are nice and sturdy and make great little trash bags
