Ever since Spiro Agnew the GOP has used yeehaw populism to get, cough, persuadable types to vote their money upwards to the owner class. The marks always had the numbers, and with Trump the yeehaws took over the driver’s seat from genteel plutocrats like McConnell. Now the tiger’s riding him.
