Subject matter knowledge is what I think you mean about wide vs narrow? I think that’s specific to your subject. I have to know a lot of technologies for what I do but in other roles that’s not needed or even necessarily helpful. It’s very easy to over-complicate things (I get ribbed for that!).

Yeah. Because I'm an ecologist...do I stick to biodiversity/ecology based products or what happens when/if I need to move somewhere outside that field? I'm not quite sure what that looks like.
