Likes to lurk with only the occasional snarky comment that I then get told off about because 'thats not how we do things over here'.

Yep that did the trick - your reply was hidden and then tagged as intolerance. Kinda funny after 14 years of tolerating them

It's a wonderful knife edge. The system does indeed seem wrong but it's hard to have that perspective when in the 'oh thank heaven the Tories are gone' camp.

Now that Farage becomes an MP, does that mean he'll get treated like an MP from other minor parties, ie stop appearing on TV all the sodding time?

One Tory. One Lib Dem. One Reform. Maybe a dozen Labour. Also, Labour ads in EVERY SINGLE YouTube video I've watched for the last week. Even now (8.30pm on 4th) I am getting "don't forget to vote Labour" ads.

I've just seen Reform flyers under the windscreen wipers on the carpark at the polling station.

I'm amazed to see Millionaire and Blade Alley on there. They were games I got from the bargain bin at a newsagents and I assumed were not well known.

There are moral problems with the training sources right now but what about in the future? What will AIs learn from in 10 years if humans are pushed out of creative arts? AI generated stuff is bland crap now but what will it be like if future models are trained on the output of todays AI?

And that's the tip of the iceberg! The amount of dodgy, corrupt or just generally mental crap they've managed in the last 14 years is staggering. (Whilst also not lowering taxes or privatising anything)

Yeh. And I guess if you can afford private health care then they can be appealing. But surely noone like selling massive PPE contracts to your mates, buying peerages, insider betting, crashing the economy, partying while introducing laws to prevent meeting socially? Right?!

I genuinely can't figure out whether the Tories have gone against the core values that (I guess some people must) like and leaned in hard on corruption and lunacy. Or if their core base just like corruption and lunacy. Either way, the Tories have jumped the shark and need to go.

With hindsight, I probably should have read the article then commented rather than commented making a mental note to read it in the morning :D I guess that's internet comments in a nutshell!

Counterpoint: there was a period where people wanted portable music and you couldn't get a 12" vinyl Walkman. Plus, much more importantly, only posh kids had floppy disk drives. But yeh, better alternatives for those now, so hipsters can piss off.

I always fancied a micro but I think my aging eyes means it's pointless now. I had a Pocket Go that I loved but gave to my kid when I realised I was squinting when I played it :(

An awesome game but I never quite understood how a game where you try to play for a high score worked on a handheld (without save states). But clearly the sales speak for themselves so what do I know eh?

Batteries were never an issue because I was never taking the Lynx with me in my pocket. Just like the Switch.

BITD the Lynx (for me) did what the Switch now does. I played the Lynx on the sofa with it plugged into the Atari power supply while my family watched TV. Now I'm the dad and I play my Switch Lite (or Vita!) on the sofa while the kids watch the TV.

That is incredibly close to accurate. I'm not sure whether it was written by someone with incredible foresight or whether we have spent the last 40 years building unimaginative obvious stuff (while patting ourselves on the back for our progress).

So C64 would be a no for Speccy emulation. An ST or Amiga maybe very very slowly. An Archimedes would prob me the minimum at the time.

Long long time ago a fella that wrote an ST emulator told me you need at least x10 "power" to emulate. This was a GP32 forum (those were the days). The GP32 had a 120mhz ARM CPU and could handle 8 bit micros, the Megadrive and PC Engine were a big stretch

Was there last year and had coached kids on not commenting on maga folk - but we saw none. Many many in varying states of so-fat-are-in-disabilty-scooter type scenarios. I actually have no issues with this but wonder about their choice - hot, humid, expensive, can't go on rides. What's the appeal?

It's beyond mental. Some cars (BMWs I think?) are now shipped with heated seats in the car but to use the heated seats you have to subscribe.

The Decathlon near us has an RFID on all products. You pop your basket by the till, it tells you how much you owe, you wave your card at it and leave. If you want you can skip the basket and load everything into a bag as you go. No AI needed.

In Jan I bought some name brand alcohol free red wine. Were it normal wine I would have taken it back for it was "a rodent died here" bad. But I didn't know whether to complain it was 'off' or if was as intended. How do I word a "is it a horrible error or are you just mental?' email??

Or, like most of Fess Hole, it's probably not true. At least this one could be filed in the 'something I wish I did cos it'd be funny' category rather than the more common 'blatant lie for no reason'

The masses want simplicity, with cool marketing and a sense of being special. bsky doing invites is replicating Facebook in the early days and it's simple - 2/3. Mastadon just had the feeling special bit but Joe Public won't cope with the complexity - 1/3.

The few kids I knew that had consoles got a game for their birthday, a game at Christmas and rented the rest. Meanwhile, the micro owners pirated or bought budget. Wasn't Street Fighter 2 £70 at launch? That's like £180 today!

This is why I'm not worried by 'big tech companies tracking you'. Google should know everything about me. I even voluntarily do Google Reward surveys. Never ever do I get a remotely relevant ad on YouTube.
