I was a waiter at a very busy, famous restaurant in Philly. Saturday March 14th 2020 was so busy it felt apocalyptic and deeply wrong. We had a group of NBA players after a report of widespread infection in the league. I called out the next night and didn’t work again until April 2021.

Moving out on my own in 2001 I realized that you could have 2 sharp knives instead of a drawer of dull ones clattering against each other, and good salt and fresh ground pepper, whole spices and simply cooked vegetables. I brought these innovations back to my boomer parents who adopted them.
