Is this a dark giant horsefly? Can anyone ID? Length 20-30mm, so maybe about lifesize if you're viewing on a phone! Afraid I didn't hang around for more precise measurements 🫣 Spotted in damp grassland in Cumbria, UK. Apologies for low quality phone snap.

Cuteness overload alert! You don't often see red squirrels sharing. These two youngsters must be siblings, probably born early this year, and with their mother, managed to evade the squirrel pox virus outbreak. We may have lost their father, but at least his genes survived.
