For what it's worth: some of us still have faith in the framework, if not some of the people implementing the policies. I actually think the cracks we're seeing in the system are the inevitable failure of the system behind the system: the invisible hand of the wealthy becoming visible.

Others have made this point before, but we’re here largely because Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon instead of allowing him to face the consequences of his criminal behavior. Ford should be regarded as a Watergate accomplice, not a statesman.
