In San Diego, all the fireworks in the city go off in a single instant. On the East coast it’s a drip drip drip for days.

Very much so. Him being nuts has very little to do with where he grew up. The fixation is more about people wanting to find a way to declare him irredeemably evil that fits their own biases.

The fact that a self-described Democratic Socialist couldn’t win the Democratic primary clearly had *nothing* to do with the fact he was a Democratic Socialist.

Having attended the official university of the entertainment industry, I have zero problem believing that. It's a tight race between entertainment industry execs and tech company founders for being anchored to the top left hand corner of the Dunning Kruger curve when it comes to public policy.

And would you say that the execs you worked with had a better sense of what was required to lead an org with thousands of employees than someone who owned a couple of coffee shops and icre cream stands?

The purpose of the org does't matter. It's the size and complexity. It's comprehension that an org that size is like a cruise ship, not a speed boat. That you can't just fire employees because they have opinions you don't like and that order and process matter for institutional continuity.

My point is if you believe that business experience is relevant to successful governance, Trump is the last guy you'd want. He's run a small family business for 50 years where doesn't have to answer to anyone and he's unfireable.

Forget for a second that it's a bank. Dimon successfully leads a massive, heavily regulated global company with tens of thousands of employees. Policy aside, he has a far better grasp of what it would take to run the US gov't than someone who's run a family business for 50 years.

The DNC needs to make this election about everything *but* Trump. Abortion, contraception, SCOTUS, Harlan Crow, Heritage, 1/6. It will drive Trump nuts b/c he *needs* enemies. Vote for Biden to stop the full panoply of awful that is empowered by a Trump presidency. Wider appeal than just Biden.

On top of that, Trump has handed the reins of the RNC to his daughter in law, who doesn’t exactly have a background in politics, and whose primary function is to funnel $$$ from the RNC into Trump related businesses. The problem with a cult of personality is that it tends to attract the unqualified.

Trump is going to have to pick up 3 of the following 5 to win: GA, AZ, PA, MI and WI. That’s tough when you consider PA & MI elected Dem govs by 10%+ in the last 4yrs, abortion is on the ballot in AZ w/ a 🍌🍌🍌state GOP, the GA GOP is still pissed about the phone call, and WI has a new Dem gov & map

The constant refrains from him and his supporters have so conditioned us to be fearful of “criminalizing politics” that it hasn’t dawned on most that he’s simply trying to politicize criminality. And treason. 59 presidential elections in this country’s history, and he’s the first to try a putsch.

The NRA is successful because it perpetuates two legends amongst pro & anti gun-control groups: 1. They are invincible, so the only way you can protect yourself is to buy a gun. 2. The government is coming for your guns, and the only guarantor of your freedom is your ability to outgun Seal Team 6.

To be clear, I don't have a problem with guns. I have a problem with imbuing gun ownership with some quasi-religious quality, which results in states being more able to regulate when teenagers can learn to drive, than being able to regulate if those teenagers can buy automatic rifles.

The notion that the 2nd Amendment was about universal individual gun rights is hardly Originalist. Heller(2008) was the result of a decades long crusade to reframe it. Judge-made law in its purest form. Until then, the strongest argument for it was the Incorporation Clause of the 14th Amendment.

I begrudgingly moved from permanent LR license to subscription about 6 years ago. I’ve only shot RAW for 15+ years, but my thing has been to tell LR to write all edits into .xmp sidecar files so on the event I want to switch to something else, I don’t lose all the edits I’ve made over the years.

I just don't think the TCJA tqeaks were ever intended to apply to this sort of conrporate scenario. It was just bycatch. If was a US entity that filed partnership returns, there would never be a question.

I think anyone who's trying to extrapalate out from this case is really missing the fact that it's really niche. The entity involved is a Controlled Foreign Corporation, which are their own unique breed of corporations that are not American, but the US Gov't treates as American for tax purposes

So Northrop Grumman bought Vought from Carlyle in 1994, but Carlyle then started another aerospace company under the Vought name in 2000, which has been part of 787 saga. The history of Vought lives at Northrop Grumman.
