The first few are decent enough boarding school books which as a genre had been on their way out for a while when she published it and then a lot of Britishism standing in fo world building and right place right time

The first couple were pretty good British Boarding School romps. Like many popular series, the quality drops as the ability of her editors to say “No, Joanne, you need to cut 2/3rds of this” decreases over time. The worldbuilding also completely undercuts her attempts at more adult themes later.

Yes. And I'm not just saying that. If the movies were anything like the books they'd have flopped. They're unreadable. Dumbledore is like a stupid, clownish child. It's like if a 5 year old named characters- this guy who likes meat is BBQ Bill, this person who likes plants is Seed F Plantington
