That’s before we get to the cynicism and cruelty of letting a large chunk of the population suffer in order to get everyone else “fired up” to vote.

If democracy is saved, what will he campaign on?

In fact, doing the same thing we've always done is the ONLY guarantee that there will NOT be change. But fear, understandably, keeps people from seeing that.

Then make it, if that's what you really believe.
All the best.

Can you imagine being a Palestinian, and reading that? Gut punch.
Throwing your hands and walking away is not the same as holding our leaders accountable. The people you're frustrated with are the only ones brave enough to really do that.
Letting fear lead is a losing strategy for humanity.

And they assume correctly, since we're all here on a post meant to shame anyone who dares suggest they may not fall in line.

One term? Is it your imagination that the dems have only had one term to change things over say, the past two or three decades?

As a rule, people who think there is no other way to live, can not imagine one. It's up to those who can imagine something different to do so, unfailingly. They are the only hope we have.

The marginalized comprise many of those who have already learned that Biden won't save us.
They're being patient with you while you figure it out.

My point is- I get that white cis people are terrified of losing their rights. It's scary! But I really wish you could keep your blame away from the marginalized, who are already experiencing what you're scared of, and place it on the shoulders of your feckless, gutless leaders, where it belongs.

What will be different then? What has changed since 4 years ago, the last time we had to vote to save democracy?

And in this scenario, working on them is defined as electing the people who have repeatedly declined to implement them over decades in power? But this time, it's different? And four years from now, when "vote for me or lose democracy" is still our only choice, but we've lost more rights- then what?

Will a leader who knows you have no choice but to vote for them continue to care less and less about what the voters want? Is it really "democracy" you're aiming to save, or your own skin? Have you considered some people's "skin" is already beyond saving? Do you bully and guilt those people?

If Biden really cared to stop this- why not, while he's in power? And if the answer is, "he can't," how will that change after this election? And if the answer is "it won't," is every election ever going to be the one that must save democracy? And if it is, will believing in a leader ever matter?

I would say privilege is largely concentrated on those who only stand to lose their rights *now,* when some are trying to impress upon you they've been losing those rights for decades under dem leadership. The amount of fear some people have over being treated like others already are, is palpable.

People who look at folks for whom genocide is a deal breaker, or who are screaming that their rights are already being decimated under Biden, and say "these people are pretending things will be awesome under Trump" share some common traits. I'll let you sort out what they are.

Yes. Like I keep saying, white people are correct for thinking fascism is finally coming for them too. But, predictably, they’re STILL not listening to the people who’ve been living with fascism all this time. They COULD learn something, but too busy lecturing.

It's super weird that every four years, Americans have to "save" democracy. Why can't democracy save them for once?

Everyone is always afraid to say why people like Trump or Marie Le Pen have some level of popularity and it’s just that there’s a lot of people in the world who believe in racism. You end up with these goofy ass explanations for Trump where it’s NAFTA or shit and it’s like no you know what it is

As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).

I hope when you wake up under a Fascist regime and have to print pre-written Dear Leader articles to keep yourselves out of jail, that you connect the dots. I hope every single way you participated- all the muddying of the waters, all the passive language, all the outright lies- haunt you forever.

Yes. And I'm not just saying that. If the movies were anything like the books they'd have flopped. They're unreadable. Dumbledore is like a stupid, clownish child. It's like if a 5 year old named characters- this guy who likes meat is BBQ Bill, this person who likes plants is Seed F Plantington

It's only possible to be more concerned about the optics of what we call this moral outrage than the outrage itself if we accept that Israeli lives matter and Palestinian lives don't.

Two other prominent doctors (and many others who were less prominent!) have previously been murdered by torture in Israeli custody, one an orthopedic surgeon and the other an obstetrician.
Remember when we were supposed to pretend the idea that Israel would target a hospital was a blood libel?

In case it's not clear, as a dastardly online leftist, one of, but not the singular, reasons I have hated Joe Biden as a candidate all this time is that I really, really did not want Donald Trump to ever be president again.
