Or, to agree with your follow up, conservatism doesn't have to be reactionary, but so much of modern conservatism is reactionary it defines the movement. If your entire philosophy is "things used to be better" of course your art is bad. What good new art can be made, things used to be better!

I couldn't finish it because the tone is so... eyeroll. He doesn't want conservative art; he wants reactionary art. Reactionary art's only appeal is reactionaryism. It's not fresh, it has no insight, it's just... bland. I can imagine a world where conservatism is not that, but not in his worldview.

It's a hell of a lot more puzzle, but I do redactle.net on a sometimes basis and will pop in and out of it over the day.

Take a random biggish wikipedia page with most of the words blanked out, find the page. Only makes me grumpy when it's like a 18th century Russian scientist.

Always amazed at people don't understand the joy of an animal that doesn't want to be touched, doesn't even want to be looked at much, but wants to be in your presence as much as possible. It's important to them to be close by and just hanging out and it is glorious.

Occupy was a fucking shitshow for the start. Although I think it was part of the larger zeitgeist at how the new oligarchy was just as bad as the old, it had no focus, no leadership, and was for some reason proud of that? I'm a bit older than you though, so maybe it was different if you are younger.

It's sometimes hard to see if it is something you were already steeped in, but the George Floyd protests did make a lot people pay attention, and they still are to a point. Not a huge amount, and they aren't sure what a solution is, and the status quo didn't change yet, but even that is a big step.
