To answer seriously. Yes. But in florida we've seen most class libraries and media centers closed, can't properly teach sex ed, can't read a lot of novels except through excerpts, massive defunding by funneling money to charters...

I teach math in middle school and I notice the same thing from ELA teachers. Though to be honest I wonder if the decline in love of learning and reading is tethered more to the fact that most of their reading is just excerpts of text with no joining context or continuity. For years.

As a math teacher I can tell you that literacy issues are ballooning and they impact every aspect of learning. One of the saddest things I have seen is that students aren't really allowed to read, not really, they just read snippets of text with little to no context. No wonder they hate "reading".
