Similar for me - doing software development at a huge company where practically every feature has its own department with its own processes & architecture. Stressing out on cross-cutting projects eventually drove me to get an assessment, and an ADHD diagnosis at 56. Which surprised few people...

What you will see is people telling visitors that they *dont* need to take their shoes off - usually contractors in to work on something. But contractors will show up with booties just in case.

I've seen a handful of reasonable use cases. Mostly variations on "summarize these 1000 articles/papers/etc so I can do a triage pass to fine the most interesting candidates to follow up on" in different contexts. But always with a human doing the actual work for public consumption.

I ended up driving one as a rental. I wouldn't recommend it, just from and ergonomic standpoint, even without the Muskian baggage. It's like someone (guess who) read Dennis Norman's "The Philosophy of Everyday Things" and decided to do the opposite.

We have a lot of black bears in our neighbourhood near Vancouver, BC. They're about as likely to want to engage with you as the raccoons we had in Toronto, which is not at all so long as you don't poke at them. Stuff like this is a bigger worry, though much less common (not my photo):
