Members of Third Act (mostly aged 60+) led a "funeral procession" near Citi's headquarters in remembrance of senior citizens who have died during recent dangerous heatwaves and to call out the bank "for being the number one funder of fossil fuel expansion in the world," according to #SummerOfHeat

Citibank is the 2nd largest fossil-fuel funder: close to $400 billion since 2016.
I'm a lead signer of a letter calling on Citi to stop all financing & support of companies engaged in development & expansion of fossil fuels.

UN Secretary General António Guterres calls out greenwashing & obstruction by the #fossilfuel industry & recommends every country ban fossil fuel advertising. 👏 The science is clear that we cannot keep burning fossil fuels. So there's no reason to advertise them!

New: Arjuna Capital - sued by ExxonMobil over resolution requesting medium-term emissions reduction targets - promised it won't pursue more climate-related proposals. If ExxonMobil has blocked shareholders from discussing #climatechange, it has only made them focus on poor corporate governance.

Wildfires and grid failures have exacerbated each other. #DangerSeason is here and with high-fire-risk months ahead, fossil fuel and utility companies must be held accountable for their role. Disadvantaged and low-income communities shouldn't shoulder the costs and impacts.

Ean Thomas Tafoya of GreenLatinos is also quoted, noting that the so-called "cleanest molecule" still comes with harmful impacts. A 2021 analysis shows that ground-level ozone worsened by climate change disproportionately impacts CO's Hispanic communities.
