Second year of native seeds taking off. Not a single bee plant grew this year, despite heavy seeding. So disappointing. They were magnificent last year. This year’s showing is mostly coneflowers, velvetweed, evening primrose, and blazing star.

That’s awesome, love to hear from other incense makers. Different botanicals burn at different temperatures—I’m still at the beginning of understanding how to ratio them, like clove, it’s an accelerant. I rarely use oils, myself, though I have some recipes that use them I’d like to try sometime.

Excellent! Yes conservation and ethics is dear to me, I’m ever learning. My earliest batches had poorly sourced white sage in them, now I know better. The herbalism course focuses on sustainability each week, I’ll do my best to contribute. Rare and endangered plants isn’t talked about enough.

This is great! One of my early mistakes was adding too much fragrance, in my case resins, because more scent is better, right? Only I learned that too much resin means the incense won’t burn at all.

I topped my patchouli plant to make more patchouli, also to force the mother plant to branch out as she was getting leggy. The cuttings have perked up and I see wee root starts nubbing.
