Professional voice is fake and trying to contort your unique writing voice into something you hate for a publication that doesn't actually value your work is a waste of time. Find a publication that works with a voice that you like and go from there. LinkedIn for creatives is a cesspit and worthless

I am very fortunate enough to work for an outlet that allows me to make up words and quote CS Lewis in a car review. However, I've written for pubs that scrubbed out every bit of personality from my work. I came to realize that I didnt want to write for them because they didn't actually want MY work
