of course there is no consumer benefit. this is just the airline money grubbing.

(in addition, i wouldnt be surprised if their refund process defaults to issuing their own vouchers instead of reimbursing the payment card. airlines like to try to get away with shady tricks like that even for statutory refunds like for long delays/cancellations)
