…and i didnt go. i had been looking forward to it for weeks. i couldnt stop thinking about it all day. but that evening got swamped with immense social anxiety on the leading edge of a depressive storm. just couldnt face stepping out of my front door. hated it. hated myself for it. but couldnt.

six or so years ago i bought tickets for Shearwater, probably my favourite band of all time (my definitely favourite song is one of theirs). they were hitting up glasgow on their tour, which is just a short train ride away.

i also saw opportunities to directly cheat a couple others (by firing into receivers from behind, or using items broken out from other puzzles), but i desisted because i wanted to actually solve the puzzles more than i wanted to have them solved.

i cheesed two of them by just being very quick with swapping one connector out for another (i.e. before laser intersections cut off the lasers). looked up the real solutions afterwards and they were more elegant :D

(in addition, i wouldnt be surprised if their refund process defaults to issuing their own vouchers instead of reimbursing the payment card. airlines like to try to get away with shady tricks like that even for statutory refunds like for long delays/cancellations)

i think its extremely unlikely they were taken in order to be returned to the wild. i can only hope they were sold to someone who looked after them well! in hindsight, we certainly never should have had them. they were wild creatures for sure. quite likely an endangered species.

(my experience being: we had a pair of slender lorises when we lived in laos. not as household pets though, they were not very accustomed to people. we had them until one night someone broke in and stole them from their enclosure.)

in my experience, lorises are very chill, very laid back creatures. they like best to just hang around on a tree branch and do nothing at all. so i can only assume the same is true of lorischilds?

when they filmed the climactic pistol duel between adso and jorge, an accident with misfiring blanks led to the blinding of the latter actor. as a result, they had to rewrite and refilm the entire ending, and the shot of slater pulling a gun from beneath his robe didnt make it to release.
