I get that but tbh I think that might be the worst possible thing, as I expect similar performance at the next debate & by then it might *actually* be too late. It hinges on if you think this was a fluke—if you do, waiting for things to cool down makes sense—if you don’t, the time to move on is now

Agreed, but also the ways to stop it from dragging out woulda been 1.immediate blitz of appearances where he looked demonstrably, unassailably fit for duty (ship has sailed), or 2. drop out. There’s no unequivocal “I’m running, shut up” statement that stops the chatter. They already tried that
