Of course. We're here to exchange opinions aren't we? But what made me sad was not a different opinion but the sneer, the "stinking out" the place comment. I think he is a committed artist, not a chancer, and merits more respect, especially from those who knows what it takes to do that job.

Sad to read this. Haneke is, for me, one of the great living film makers, with an eye for the potential of violence in every human interaction. His depiction of violence is never gratuitous or pornographic, usually out of shot or on the edge of the frame. Not an entertainer, but neither was Bresson.

Am a great fan of your early evening drink pics, the sparsely populated bars evoking Edward Hopper- his lone drinkers would be looking into their phones now. A glass half full, a thumbed paperback, splinters and clusters of random folk. Big windows, bookshelves, maybe some vinyl. I want to be there.

JB is decent. When I first saw it, I thought, Oh, he may be a film maker after all. I was in a cinema packed with Tarantinees, their disappointment was palpable, audible, when the violence happened out of frame. I do think he tried something interesting with OUATI Hollywood, didn't quite come off.

And it has been airbrushed out of history that Johnson, when PM, showed up at the Cenotaph dishevelled and visibly either drunk or hungover. The BBC replaced the video of this with Johnson's appearance the previous year. Stalin would have been proud of them.

The bins talk to my son every time he goes to put rubbish in them. Every public waste bin has a Bin Monster in it. There are good BMs and bad ones, and he has to work out who is who and gives rubbish to the good guys. He remembers where the good BMs are and always returns to them. Exhausting for me.

Great tale, I always wondered who hurt Hamilton so much. But surely Netta is not so odious? Yes, her soul needs work, but George H Bone is doing a hell of a lot of projecting, and that comes back to him. And he is a very unreliable narrator. I'd have a drink with Netta. I just wouldn't pin my hopes.
