The existence of these whisper networks breaks my fucking heart. An admission that WOMEN WILL BE RAPED and the best you can do is make sure that the women getting raped are outside your social circle. I bet autistic women get left out a lot. Left out like bait along with other marginalised folk.

On my son's birthday one year there was a huge wildfire. We could see when the fire reached the top of the ridge across from us and lit up the skyline. Son said it was like the biggest birthday candle in the world. We had to evacuate & still remember that fire as son's big birthday candle!

Wow, love this and also finally embracing for myself. Other day spouse opened package and said "how many boxes of gloves do you go through?" in scoldy manner. I recently discovered game-changing disposable 8mm gloves and gave him withering glare "YOU WANNA START SUMTHIN MISTER??" & he backed down!

That does sound lovely! I'm gen x & been hopping in and out of walled gardens since the early 80s (BBS's, compuserve, &c.) as I never could make "real" friends. (I have a millennial kid and was in a prodigy forum with other moms due the same time!) I kinda relish the freedom of friendless-ness
