Well as a storyteller he does has a lot of roots in film and literature, so you gotta go for those sources instead of surface level adaptation. Corben on Crooked Man in particular was very cinematic, too, just not the kind of cinematic the A24 crowd prefers

Yeah, I'm sure mining Fritz Lang or something like that could be kind of interesting, I'm just not sure how much it would feel like Hellboy. I mean, even in the comics, as great as, e.g. Corben and Fegredo are, it never feels as true to the character as when Mignola is at the reins
