All I can say is how proud I am of you for finding "the love in the mess" and looking after your sister, and your sisters, as it were. I'm trying to learn and find the energy to help if I can too. Even if all I can do is try to listen and understand, I will try my best.

This may be a hot take but the white skinned people who could make the dark skinned people hate themselves must also hate themselves... Doesn't make it right, nothing can, cause it isn't okay. But what helps? It must be love that helps, but how do you find love within that mess. It's so hard :(

I do know it in the outward sense, but there are inevitably aspects of one's experience in which one is inherently alone. That aspect doesn't trouble me though. It's just a lot to acknowledge and accept all the things I cannot change, and to compassionately let go and move forward. Takes time.

I really do appreciate it, and thank you. I've been unpacking decades of complex trauma, and while I'm really making a lot of progress, I also know there are many years of my life I'll never be able to experience the way they I'd have done if my feelings and needs weren't horribly suppressed.

I've just never been able to "care less" as a direct approach, for whatever that's worth. It takes caring to care less, so instead I care about other things to pull attention away from the one and to the other. Maybe it's easier for others?

I've always heard the message "let go of what others think" but it never worked for me. Only once I started to build self-worth and self-approval did the self-consciousness begin to fade on its own. And it takes maintenance every day, seek out what encourages your authentic well-being 💙
