It took a while but I finally completed painting my largest project yet. I was apprehensive doing the firelight but glad I did Fire Keeper

Finished painting my first #tron inspired #battletech mech! "I fight for the users". Next up one in red to fight for the MCP.

These def take a little longer to get all the tiny lines in place and I was worried about how it would turn out but I think the results are worth it!

June is over, July has begun.

Time for another mini comp.

This month the theme is…Make a Splash.

No restrictions except you must include a liquid effect in your mini. Blood, slime, water, whatever.

Resin, UHU, PVA, any medium you like but it must look wet.

bsky.app/profile/wear...

WIP on the User's Champion. This is tough, using a fine enough brush dries out on the tip of the brush very fast. Diluted the paint for more working time and ran the risk of flooding the area slightly. Def taxing my eyes, hands, and paint control so far.

Rewarding though!

Pay no mind to the friendly frog.

Clone troopers from #shatterpoint I did recently. I wanted to create a dynamic but still white armor. The left one I did this week, the right one I did a month ago. Both turned out well but I think I was more successful at 'white' on the left one. #minipainting

There are a lot of good examples out there but I think primarily taking inspiration from the "Recognizers" will help lead me through. I think I will want some white in the glow to help push the illumination of the effect and I'll probably go lighter grey on the blue to push more variance

I asked my girlfriend what should be next for my #battletech mechs and she challenged me to paint two #Tron inspired mechs, one that fights for the users and one in league with the MCP.

I think in this scale it might be a challenge but I am excited to try!

for real, its downright rude of the camera. I want to take close up images because the minis are so small, but the camera really wants more space between the lens and the target. I am sure there are good answers for it using stock cameras on phone but I am a novice still!

Mech 3 rolls off the assembly line! Only 1 more until I have a Lance (note I do not know what a lance means other than '4 mechs in a team, like a classic d&d party')

Photography is hard! In any-case I think this one turned out pretty well, maybe behind pink, ahead of green.

As a major noob I'm curious, how did the armies get created/balanced, how large was the game and how long did it take to complete a game?

It can be scary to be that bold with colors (at least to me, I hate the idea of burning hours on something that doesn't look good) but its very liberating!

If you want to see some examples of truly inspiring bold mini painting check out www.youtube.com/channel/UCyi...

How do people do basing for 6mm? I have model sand but its gears towards 28mm. The grains would be like rocks/boulders at this scale. Im considering some clay for minor elevation variation and just paint. Keep it thin so so it looks like the feet are somewhat embedded in the ground without rebasing.

I tend to get 'painting hangovers' after major efforts where I don't feel energized. It's important to remember that you are _allowed_ to take time away from the hobby. Its not failing to want to explore other things. Sometimes its just time, sometimes I need to find inspiration or a special model!

Anybody have experience painting the missiles in the pods on these figures? I was having a devil of a time so i went with watery paint and trusted to surface tension to make the missiles stand out a little.

The model itself is all finished up I think! I am really pleased with how it came out. Never did a 6mm scale mini before (I think that's what #battletech is).

I like B better, the tension between using a longer sequence but breaking up a pair to do so sounds like a good tug and pull. The alternative is seems to have less interesting decision making, its more 'how many of these do I allocate between the two options'.

We ideally would find something between complexity of beginner box and the 'a game of armored combat' complexity.

It was normal Battletech. I bought an alpha strike box before I realized what it was (no regrets it was 13 mech models for <$50). Some folks I play with are resistant to ruler-based movement so we liked the hex based moved. We actually like individual guns, hit locations, some of the fiddly stuff.

If anyone knows a miniature agnostic, medium-crunchy mech game that offers loadout customization that battletech minis would be suitable for please let me know!

Started painting my first battletech mech. Having a lot of fun with colors on this and happy with the progress.

Didn't like how crunchy the rules are, but we did like a lot. We will probably end up homebrewing rules to a complexity we can enjoy.

When I see minis by other people: I love how that line indicates shapes, I love the bold delineation between light and share, its so stylish and really conveys what they want without getting to crazy about blending When I look at my minis: What is this unblended junk. Looks awful. Try harder.

I finished my Zagreus model! Its been a lot of work but I am pretty pleased with the results. It pushed me to try _a lot_ of new things that were pretty scary as I continued to like the early stages.

Hey thanks! the shuttle is from Star Wars legion, its not a vehicle I knew from SW but they nailed the aesthetic so well. Its called an 'A-A5 Speeder Truck' if you are interested in getting one. The interior is fully modeled and the kit is really well designed too. Mine can be taken apart even!

My brother game me a Korok mini from Breath of the Wild for Christmas so I decided to give him a nice snowy base with custom snowman to help set the scene.

I'm really happy with the snowman and how the snow came out. Might do some touchups on the tree but really pleased with the rest
