#Beryl is one very impressive storm. You see this type of perfect formation generally in the peak months of #Hurricane Season (mid-Aug through October). Pressure is still lowering, indicating a strengthening since the last eyewall replacement. Current pressure: 944mb. #wx

👏 yes, yes, you said all that beautifully. Because of the small size of the islands they don’t help to tear apart the storm such as a larger, mountainous area. Also, with a smaller storm it is easier for it to avoid other weather disturbances (or land interactions) that could help to weaken it

#Beryl is now a major category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph. Life-threatening winds and storm surge are expected in portions of the Windward Islands by early Monday. Expected to stay a major hurricane (and possibly continue to strengthen) as it pushes into the Caribbean. #wx

Climatologically speaking we see a decrease in the strong winds that push the dust off of Africa in mid-July. Lots of it right now which will stick around for at least the rest of June. But another plume will likely follow for early July.

Combination of items. Sea surface temps being a big factor. Very warm in that area & a forecasted disturbance expected to enter the region (more t-storm activity). The only factor that will limit the chance of development is wind sheer, which is expected to remain high, preventing tropical formation

Today is the official start of the Atlantic #Hurricane Season. No signs of activity yet in the Atlantic but June is typically a quiet month for formation, let alone landfalls. Since 1850 there have been 19 recorded hurricane impacts during June. Season runs through Nov. 30. #wx
