Whether #Beryl makes direct landfall, #Jamaica is no stranger to hurricanes but hasn't seen an major hurricane landfall since Gilbert 1988, its worst storm. More recently, Cat 1 Sandy (remember that one??) made landfall in 2012.

Where is #Beryl? Depends on which model initialization you ask. ECMWF says it's just N of NHC's dot, but not on land. GFS says it's just W of that. ICON says it's over Jamaica. NHC is probably close to ground truth, but with Jamaica's radar out, and few weather stations, it's hard to know.

A wide area of 8-12 inches (points over 15") fell during the last week, causing *6* river gauges to set all-time records (most records were set in 1969, most stations have 65+ years POR). #iawx

2 more gauges are forecast to break records this week.
