I think it was a good system, at least at the time from reading it, but it was not what I wanted from D&D. The rest of my group wasn’t into it either, so we played Exalted and other things during that era.

2000 did a good job of excising guff from previous editions, something they need to do a better job of any time they make a new edition. Doing so without killing what makes it D&D is the challenge.

And just because it was announced doesn’t mean it was guaranteed to come out. So that lead time is potentially even shorter. Fallout 4 is so old dlc for isn’t likely to justify the cost of making it. That leaves ‘76, which does have new dlc on the way.
