I read it early on in lockdown, and I thought it was truly spectacular. I had just come out of a very difficult relationship, and it has some of the more remarkable passages I've ever read about the emotional circumstances (not the literal ones) of a certain type of abusive relationship.

I came off a Red Line stop once only to encounter Rahm Emanuel, campaigning for mayor. He shook my hand, asked me what book I was reading, and immediately turned his attention away to start shaking other people's hands. He had no interest in my answer. Shame about his career.
