And then they point at it and scream “See! Look what happens when government gets involved!” I want off this ride now…

You’ll also have to explain what Gaza even was because Dear Supreme Leader Trump assisted in helping Israel wipe Gaza completely off the map, eliminating the former Palestinian people as a whole. But I doubt we’d be able to speak so freely to explain that. Fake news.

Ok but in NC, and many other places, it’s been designed to make it impossible to win. That’s why Jeff Jackson was a one term congressman. So what’s your suggestion to “win”?

The left wing obviously votes too. If they didn’t, the right wouldn’t need to gerrymander districts here in NC to ensure they stay in power.

Your mortgage company can foreclose on your home if you don’t carry home owners insurance. That’s a terrifying thought to consider. If I were a conspiracy theorist…

That’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The people against gender affirming care see 2 options, confirm to your assigned at birth gender or die, as they don’t want you around if you can’t be “normal”.

Hi! I’m a geologist. I double dip, doing soil corrosion research at work & studying subcritical rock cracking & land slides in grad school in North Carolina.

When I visit the poster hall at GSA & listen to a young student’s research & presentation, I always tell them I’m very proud of them, even though I don’t know them. They seem to really enjoy hearing this.

I would love to hear from academics on handling literature review as a neurodivergent person. I am struggling so much getting through these jargon thick, long papers but it’s a must.

As someone with both autism & ADHD, I say I’ve over-autismed when I’ve created too many systems to keep my ADHD in check. It’s like a circle, I start confused, build systems & patterns I like, build too many systems & end confused again.

I’ll be sure to stop by. I did 2 years of grain/particle size analysis for a soil corrosion project using a laser sampler, so I can get pretty excited about it😂

I’d love to hear more at GSA! How did you do your grain size analysis?

Friends give you their best guesses to identify rocks. Best friends find a time to meet you in the rock saw lab to cut those rocks open for a better look.

Calcite glows under UV light. That’s all you need to know to vote for it. But for an added bonus, it’s the only actual mineral between these two. #MinCup23

Geologists/Scientists used to working at higher altitudes: Any tips on dealing with field work at elevations of 8-9000ft? I work in areas well under 1000ft so I’m wondering if I’ll have issues in Colorado.

For no reason, let’s take a moment to appreciate the glowing minerals found in my favorite mine, Sterling Hill Mine, in north New Jersey. North Jersey is known for a lot but oddly not for fluorescent minerals like calcite & willemite, or minerals like Franklinite, that aren’t found elsewhere.

Same, my family goes back in WV & VA through the 1700s so they are in my blood. We will be working a couple of hours west of Fort Collins in the area of the Cameron Peak fire so I won’t have any time to visit anything extra unfortunately.

Yes! Finally someone who understands the appeal & my love of the Appalachians. They’ve been around, they’ve seen some things. I’ve been to the Rockies once while driving so I can’t wait to really get to experience them.

Just two more weeks until I head to Colorado for the CLaSH graduate summer field course. We’ll be working on mapping land surface changes post wildfire. As an east coast geomorphologist used to the Appalachian Mtns, I’m a little bit excited about getting ready to work in the much larger Rocky Mtns.

Thank you for this! The 3 Illinois quakes I felt in 2008 were shakers bc I was in St. Louis, 1 of them was more a boom, but being farther away for the 2011 Virginia earthquake, it was more of a roll.
