Oh interesting, didn’t even realize there were that many fragments.
Ive noticed in the dlc ive had to change my gear up significantly for every boss to get through, picking the right resistances and weapon types has felt a lot more important

Yeah, ive just been following the notes left at the crosses. Have been avoiding any online guides for the dlc (except for base game talismans i was missing)

So yeah that whole Elden Ring DLC is pretty hard. Some might say sadistically so.
Finally beat the scary fire snake guy after days of trying, only to get absolutely destroyed ten times in a row by some random mob with no healthbar

yeah, we don't regret offsets, but we do (i think) regret how we count offsets. Do you count characters? bytes? utf codepoints?

Interesting, i feel like “core” still has the same connotation, but it does feel better than official at least. Community is better branding than “third party”

Yeah, that was most of the point of it. The fact that its “centralized” is really just an optimization for now. We could spend the energy to make it all decentralized and stuff but… idk if thats the best use of our time right now

Yeah, if plc goes down you could just import everything into a new iteration of it and resolve against that. Since each account is individually signed it doesnt matter who hosts it really

There was also the mechanic (that i personally really love) that you lost all but your three most valuable items when you died (you could recover by going back to where you died within a time limit) Which really emphasized taking just what you needed along for the particular adventure

I never got that feeling, the inventory size was always the same. There were a couple items that were 'extra bags for certain types of items' that made certain activities a little easier as you leveled up, but choosing the set of things to take with you was always a fun (for me) part of the game

I feel like the inventory limit of Runescape was a pretty important thing for how the game worked, made it worthwhile to buy better consumables, made managing and organizing your bank storage actually worthwhile, meant you had to commit to a particular set of gear for a given adventure

That data could be verified without internet access as long as you had trusted identity mapped somehow.
Working without dns would be tricky, but under the hood everything is just DIDs, so you could build a nym system over that.

During early design convos we wanted you to be able to devolve the whole system to a scuttlebutt style architecture, but have the “happy path” run through super optimized infrastructure.
Everyone could run their own pds, and pull events from other pds’s, producing a local partial index
